The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, July 30, 1993

Douglas G. Stone, 56, of Ionia, died Thursday at Butterworth Hospital, Grand 
Rapids.  He was born the son of George and Laura Davis Stone on Jan. 15, 1937, 
in St. Johns.  He was a member of the Ionia Elks and the Ionia Moose, a member 
of the Painters Union Local 119.  He was a local painter and decorator.

He is survived by his mother, Laura Denny of Ionia; one brother, Charles of 
Ionia; one aunt, Frieda Kane of Ionia; and several nieces and nephews.  He was 
preceded in death by his father in 1946 and his brother, Thomas, in 1976.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cook Funeral Home, Ionia, with the 
Rev. Charles Hall officiating.  Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.  The 
family will be at the Rich Street Chapel on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 
p.m.  Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society—Ionia 
County Chapter, and the SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church, in care of the 
funeral home.
