Thomas J. Stone, 38, of 928 Branch street died late Friday evening after 
reportedly suffering a heart attack.  He was dead at Ionia Memorial hospital, 
according to authorities.  Stone toppled over in front of the grandstand at the 
fairgrounds.

Born June 3, 1938 in St. Johns, a son of George and Laura Davis Stone, he 
attended schools in Ionia and Portland and served three years with the U.S. 
Navy.

He was employed by the Cream-Crest dairy for several years and for the past 
seven years was employed by Oldsmobile in Lansing.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Laura Stone; one son, Chris; and two 
brothers, Charles and Douglas, both of Ionia.

Services are Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Leddick funeral home in Ionia with the Rev. 
George Douma officiating.  Burial is in the Highland Park cemetery.  The family 
will receive friends and relatives at the Leddick funeral home Sunday, 7 to 9 
p.m. and Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
