Gary Newton said Monday. Dead is Clifton R. Stovall, 43, an unemployed resident of Muir village. Sheriff Newton explained that death, following a complete autopsy Sunday, was caused by "a heart attack due to over exertion." This was the verdict of Dr. Charles E.Bock, state pathologist who conducted the autopsy. Newton said officers were called after Stovall was brought by ambulance to the Ionia county Memorial hospital shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. A hospital Doctor pronounced him dead on arrival. Held temporarily until after the body examination was Stovall's stepson, 25 years old William Kellogg, also of Muir. The two were engaged in a fist fight in the tavern which Sheriff Newton said began after an argument over an automobile owned by Kellogg's mother, Mrs. Stovall. The fight ended on the main street corner in Muir's business section when officers were called. Kellogg was taken into custody following the fight by Sheriff Newton pending the out-come of the autopsy. He said Prosecutor Walter P. Marks of Portland authorized Kellogg's release following results of the tests. No charge had been placed against him Monday.
