Gale Stout died at his home in the First ward at 9:15 o’clock last Saturday evening after several months of poor health, aged 66 years and 10 months. Mr. Stout was born at Kendallville, Ind., January 1847. In August, 1868, he was married to Miss Melinda J. VanHorn. To this union eight children were born, five of whom are now living, as follows: Chas H. Stout of this city; Geo. E. Stout, of Stanwood; Arthur Stout, of Grand Rapids; Mrs. Lizzie McCutcheon and Mrs. Clara Harding of Potluma, California. In 1878, Mr. Stout, with his family, came to Michigan, locating in Greenville, where they resided until 1903, when they came to Belding where he has since resided. Mr. Stout possessed a true heart and a kind and generous disposition, and these noble traits of character won for him the respect and esteem of all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the house Tuesday afternoon, at 1:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. W. E. Doty. Interment in the family burial lot in Forest Home cemetery, Greenville.
