Ionia Sentinel Standard, 7 August 2002

Elizabeth Stowe, born Dec. 31, 1908, daughter of William and Lulu (Shields) 
Southern passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; her parents; three brothers, 
Shirley, William Jr., and Jack; and one sister, Indabelle.  She is survived by 
one brother, Sam (Lila) Southern of Charlotte; one sister-in-law, Henrietta 
Graham of Ionia; many nieces and nephews, cousins; special friend, Naomi Lutz; 
and host of friends and neighbors.

She was a graduate of Vermontville High School class of 1925.  She was a 
lifelong resident of Ionia, retiring from Sears Roebuck in Ionia in 1972.  She 
was a member of the First Methodist Church of Ionia, the Wesleyan Guild of 
Ionia, the White Shrine and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Lake Funeral Home in 
Ionia with Pastor Martin Culver officiating.  Interment at Sunset Memorial 
Cemetery.  Visitation will be from noon until the time of service Thursday.  
Anyone wishing may make contributions to the First United Methodist Church in 
Ionia.
