Helen M. Stowell, 89, of Palo, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 at the 
Laurels of Carson City. She was born on March 23, 1921 in Fenwick, the daughter 
of Pearl and Maude (Culshaw) Gladding.

On July 19, 1940, Helen was married to Samuel J. Stowell and he preceded her in 
death on July 25, 2006. Also preceding her was a daughter, Charlene Wright, 
plus two sisters and six brothers.

Surviving are her children, Sharon and Doug Nelson of Palo, Colleen and Ronald 
Cobb of Lake Odessa and Marlene and George Hume of Palo, Douglas and Doris 
Stowell of Palo and Lanny and Carolyn Stowell of Muir, in addition to 14 
grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.

Helen has been a lifelong resident of the Palo area, she retired from Gibson’s 
and was a life member of the VFW Post 5065 Ladies Auxiliary of Sheridan. 

Funeral services at the Simpson Family Funeral Home, Sheridan, will be held 
Wednesday, March 9, 2011 beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kenneth Harger 
officiating. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Fenwick.

Visitation will be at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service on 
Wednesday.

The family has suggested for those desiring to do so, that memorial 
considerations can be made to the Michigan Heart Association. Envelopes will be 
available at the funeral home.
