July 10, 1944 Less than a week after the death of her husband, Alanson H. Stowell, Mrs. Stowell, 66-year-old Easton township resident died Sunday night in the Ionia County Memorial hospital. She had collapsed shortly after the funeral services for her husband who was drowned in Grand river and was admitted to the Ionia hospital where she remained in a coma until her death Sunday night. Mr. ad Mrs. Stowell had been married forty years in June. She was born in Rockford in 1878 and was the mother of eight children. Surviving are her seven children, Ransom and Samuel Stowell, assigned to the U.S. naval reserve at Great Lakes, Ill., Mrs. Emma Thompson of Ionia, Mrs. Max Smith of South Ionia and Miss Lillian Stowell of Detroit; J.C. Grummet and James Grummet of Ionia. A daughter, Leo Grummet died several years ago. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Myers funeral home. Rev. George Woolcock, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will be in the family lot in Easton cemetery.
