The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, May 29, 1980


Russell B. Stowell, 75, 1081 W. Main St., died Sunday, May 25, 1980 at the 
Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  He was born Nov. 11, 1904 in Easton Township 
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Burr Stowell.  He was married Nov. 11, 1933 in 
Ionia to Gertrude Neustifter.  He was employed by the Michigan Reformatory for 
32 years.  He retired in 1967 as a captain.  He lived all his life in the Ionia 
area.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; one son, Russell of Ionia; two daughters, 
Judy Lobdell of Ionia, and Beverly Redemsky of South Bend, Ind.; and four 
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Easton Cemetery with the 
Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  A memorial has been established for the 
Cancer Fund and may be left at the Myers-Roetman Funeral Home.
