Lake Odessa Wave - October 12, 1961
          WOODLAND RESIDENT BURIED ON SATURDAY

   Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 3 for Mrs. Dorr Stowell of
Woodland, at the Woodland 
Methodist church with Rev. Floyd Fitch officiated. Graveside rites were held by
Woodland Eastern Stars.

   Mrs. Stowell, the former Gertrude Tasker, was born at Assyria center south of
Nashville, coming to a farm 
near Woodland with her husband right after their marriage about 1889. After Mr.
Stowell passed away in 1950 
she moved into a home in Woodland.

   Mrs. Stowell was a charter member of the Woodland Methodist church and the church
W.S.C.S. and a 
charter member of the Woodland Eastern Stars, also a member of the West Woodland
Birthday club.

   Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lester (Grace) Noble and Mrs. Jack (Dorreen)
Hartman, both of 
Vicksburg, and five grandsons, 4 granddaughters and 1 step granddaughter.

   Her two sons both passed away in 1956.  They were Dr. Ira F. Stowell of San
Antonio, Texas and Verdun of 
Woodland.
