The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, September 5, 1973
Mrs. Doris Leola Stowell, 52, of Long lake died suddenly at her home of a 
heart attack Tuesday.  Born in Sheridan, June 5, 1921, she was the daughter of 
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Babcock.  March 18, 1939 she was married in Grand Rapids 
to Ransom A. Stowell and lived in Ionia before moving to Long lake in 1962.  
They operated the R and D PX store which they sold in May of 1973.  She had 
been employed by numerous restaurants in Ionia before moving to Long lake.

Surviving besides the husband, Ransom A., are three sons, Rance Richard 
Stowell of Belding, Dennis Roy and Brian Scott of Orleans; three daughters, 
Mrs. Sandra Anway and Mrs. Sue Ann Bussell of Ionia and Mrs. Carol Keller of 
Orleans; five grandchildren…. (rest is missing).
