The event was shocking in its suddenness, bringing deep sorrow to a wide circle of friends. Deceased was a remarkably healthy and vigorous woman. She did the family washing Monday morning, and afterwards made calls on neighboring friends, appearing as sprightly and joyous as usual. About four o’clock she was at the chicken house with her husband, and carried in the eggs. He heard a sound a few minutes later as if something had fallen in the house, and going in found his wife unconscious on the floor. She survived through the night, but did not regain consciousness. Dr. Tremayne was called and gave his opinion that death was caused by a blood clot on heart. Deceased was 24 years of age, and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Helmer, of Easton. She leaves one child, a girl four years old. Funeral services were held at Easton church at 11 a.m. Thursday, sermon by Rev. Mr. Wright. Deceased was converted last winter, under ministrations of Rev. C. Seymour, and united with the M. E. church.
