Stowell, Palo, age 85, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2006 at his home. He was born April 15, 1921 in Easton Township the son of Alanson and Emma (Watson) Stowell. Mr. Stowell is a veteran of the United States Nave serving in WW II and he is a member of the American Legion in Stanton and a lifetime member of the Sheridan V.F.W. Post #5065. Sam enjoyed flowers, tending to his lawn and especially his garden. He enjoyed fishing and was retired from Gibson's in Greenville after 37 years of service. He was preceded in death by a daughter Charlene Wright, infant son, Sam and a infant daughter, Deborah. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Helen; children: Douglas (Doris) Stowell of Palo, Sharon (Doug) Nelson of Palo, Lanny (Carolyn) Stowell of Muir, Colleen (Ronald) Cobb of Lake Odessa, and Marlene (George) Hume of Palo; Son-in-law, Robert Wright of Saranac; 24 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; sister, Gladys Lindsey of Rockford. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Jack Gladding at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2006 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. Interment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Sheridan V.F.W. Post #5065 at the cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
