The Ionia Standard, Friday, February 10, 1897
Muir.  The sudden death, Sunday morning, of Freddie Strachan, the ten years 
old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Strachan, has cast a gloom over the entire 
community.  Death resulted from concussion of the brain caused by a fall on 
the ice two weeks ago.  

The funeral Tuesday afternoon was largely attended.  Rev. Ainsworth, of the 
Disciple church, preached the sermon.  The relatives from out of town were 
Judge and Mrs. Willett and Miss Willett of Ionia, and Dr. and Mrs. Strachan, 
of Pewamo.
