The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, May 31, 1955
Mrs. Marie Strahle, 86, died Saturday at the Taylor Convalescent Home in Ionia 
where she had been a patient for five years.  Before going to the convalescent 
home she had lived with a brother, Emmanuel Kussmaul, near Lake Odessa.

Mrs. Strahle was born June 24, 1868 in Germany, the daughter of Simon and 
Katherine Kussmaul and came to Lake Odessa when a small girl.  She had lived 
in the vicinity of Woodland and Lake Odessa since.  Surviving are one sister, 
Mrs. Kate Rynvan of Washington and two brothers, Emmanuel and George Kussmaul 
of Lake Odessa.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Pickens 
funeral chapel.  The Rev. George Nieman officiated.  Burial was at Lakeside 
cemetery.
