SIGURD STRAND
IONIA-Sigurd Strand, 65, of 987 Prairie Creek road, died Thursday morning at 
Ionia County Memorial hospital.

He was born in Big Timber, Montana November 6, 1911, the son of Anton and 
Severina Jodestel Strand.

Mr Strand was a shoe salesman and managed Strands shoe store in Ionia for 
several years after the death of Nels A. Strand, owner and brother of Sigurd.

He was a past exalted ruler and former trustee of the Ionia Elks; and member of 
Kiwanis, Lons, Iona county Fishing and Hunting club and former district chairman 
of Ionia Boy Scouts.

Mr. Strand is survived by his wife, Lois; one son, David of Georgia; three 
daughters, Antonia Henry of Indiana; Sandy Lamphere of Ionia and Terri Sue 
Pomranky of Sanford; two adopted sons, John Strand of Georgia and Ray Cunningham 
of Ionia; two brothers Lloyd and Adolph of Montana; three sisters, Inga Lesman 
and Ansof Hanson of Montana and Sophie Lamp of California and eight 
grandchildren.

Services are Saturday at 4 pm from First Presbyterian church with Rev. George 
Douma officiating.

Burial is in Balcom cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Friday 2 to 4 
and 7 to 9 pm.
