Lake Odessa Wave - February 14, 1957
          WILLIAM STRICKLAND DIED FRIDAY

   William J. Strickland 70, passed away early Friday at his home on route 3 after a
several months illness.

   A former Carlton township resident and farmer, he moved to the farm on Veder
road, which he purchased, 
July 25, 1949.

   Mr. Strickland was member of Township and director of the school board of the
Carlton school for many 
years. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge No. 58, Hastings, the Michigan Beekeppers
Association and the 
Lakeside Grange.

   Surviving are his wife, Mildred, one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Marcia) Steeby of
Hastings; three sons, Lawrence 
and Rex of Hastings and Stanton at home and seven grand children.

   Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Pickens Funeral Chapel with
burial in Lakeside cemetery.  
Rev. A. R. Kuehn officiated.
