Mildred M. Strickland, 91, of Bliss Road, Lake Odessa died Sunday, May 9,
shortly after arriving at Pennock hospital in Hastings.  She was born Oct. 14,
1890 in Carlton Twp., the daughter of James and Alice Jennings Lancaster.  She
attended Boter and Hastings schools. 

She married William Strickland in November 9, 1911.  He preceeded her in death
in February of 1957.  They moved from Coats Grove to a farm near Lake Odessa in
1950.  She was also a member of the Lakeside grange.

She is survived by three sons: Lawrence of Plainwell, Rex of Hastings and
Stanton of Lake Odessa; one daughter Mrs. Marcia Steeby, two sisters Mrs.
Beatrice Carpenter of Carlton center and Mrs. Lloyd Marguerite Shroyer of
Hastings, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson,
three step grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren and two
step-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Pickens-Koops
funeral home in Lake Odessa, the Rev. James Hulett officiating.  Burial will be
at Lakeside cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9
p.m. at the funeral home.
