He was born in Hubbardston, July 5, 1903, the son of Theodore and Clarabelle Strickling. He was a retired painter for Greyhound Bus line and veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Thelma; five sons, Theodore of Grand Ledge; Claude, Jr., Charles, Raymond and John, all of Ionia; three stepchildren, Philip Lindsey of Wilmette, Ill., Mrs. Adeline Griffith of Waco, Texas, and Paul Lindsey of Pine Bluff, Ark.; 23 grandchildren, three brothers, Everett of Garrettsville, Ohio, Alger of Sault Ste. Marie and Rolland of Lansing. The body will arrive late Thursday evening at Stone-Kauffman funeral home. Arrangements will be announced. Subsequent Publication: Monday, February 22, 1971 Rev. Clifford Owens officiated at funeral services Saturday at Lincoln Avenue Baptist church for Claude LaVern Strickling, who died Tuesday. Vocalist was Mr. James Scripts, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Mrs. Joseph Brooks. Interment was at Palo cemetery. Bearers were Leslie and Gerry Stedman, Floyd Underwood, Howard Ransom, Bill Scutt, John Grill, Harold Peterson and George Ranger.
