Strickling passed away on June 15th, preceding several strokes, the last one on June 11th. The first stroke was April first, 1932 and since that time Mrs. Strickling has been confined to her bed. Amelia J. Carney was born June 16th, 1851 near Tifton, Ohio, and lacked just a few hours of being eighty-one years old. Her father died when she was three years old and her mother when twelve and she made her home then with her aunts until her marriage to Theodore S. Strickling on June 28th, 1870, which lacks just twelve days of 63 years of married life. To this union four children were born, one dying in infancy in 1871 and Theodore in 1918. One daughter, Clara Moore living south of Matherton and one son Gideon living in Hubbardston, survive besides her aged husband, and five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. They came to Michigan in 1875 and first located at Elm Hall, but soon came to Bloomer township in Montcalm county and stayed here until 1886 then coming to Hubbardston where they have spent the remaining days of their life. Mrs. Strickling was an active member of the Women’s Relief Corps during it existence. The funeral service was held at the home of her son on Monday afternoon at two- thirty with Rev. Drake officiating and interment in the West Side cemetery.
