Aug. 11, 1911 Earl Raymond the little 5-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Strickling Jr., died Saturday afternoon August 5. The little fellow has been for the week at the home of his grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Robinson near Ionia during the absence of his mother in Detroit. Friday, as he was not feeling well, but able to be playing about, they started with him for Hubbardston. After driving a short distance he became partly paralyzed and scarcely able to speak. After they arrived here a physician was called a once and as no hope was entertained of his recovery a telegram was sent to his mother in Detroit. She arrived here Saturday just a few hours before his death. He was a terrible sufferer during the doctors pronounced meningitis. The funeral was held at the house Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Mr. Brownlow of Carson City officiated. George and Howard Chick, Howard Reed and Frank Doten acted as pallbearers. There were many beautiful floral tributes. The remains were take to the West Side cemetery for interment in the family lot. Earle was a bright, sturdy little fellow, always seemingly in the best of health. All that kind and loving friends could do was done to relieve his terrible sufferings, and there was a large attendance of sympathizing friends at the burial service.
