February 10, 2024 STRICKLING Betty M. Strickling age 92, f Ionia passed away February 3, 2024. She was born September 6, 1931, in Grand Rapids the daughter of David and Gertrude (Keffer) Johnson. Betty married Raymond E. Strickling May 29, 1952; he preceded her in death August 10, 1999. She was the neighborhood Avon lady and employed by Rose of Rosebud Cakes who was one of her best friend. She enjoyed baking and decorating beautiful cakes. Betty has always had a love for music, writing inspirational songs with her mother, playing the organ at church, and performing with the bands, one being the Grand Valley Strings.She played the accordion performing at the Ionia County Commission on Aging, local area nursing homes and events. Betty loved everyone and almost everything. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crossword puzzles and the late-night TV re-runs of Ironside, Hogans Heroes and Mash. A special Highlight in her life was attending "tea parties" with "the tea girls". Mom loved anyone who was nice to her."Her love lasts forever." She is survived b her children: Linda (Lawson) Craven of Saranac, David "Deano" (Bridget) Strickling of Ionia, Richard"Dick" (Judith) Strickling of Fenwick and Diane (Janes) Piselli of Ionia. Son-in-law Mike Miller.Grandchildren; Bret Miller and Fiance' Rhiannon Ulatowski, Matthew (Megan) Miller and Samantha Miller. Grand-children and Great-grandchildren also survive. Sister-in-law Leonette Chapman, Marilyn Strickling and Joan Strickling. Several nieces and nephews. Very special friend Sandy Braendle. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Raymond, Son Steven Strickling, daughter Brenda Miller and Brothers William and Robert Johnson. Cremation has taken place and there will be private services at at later date. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
