Ionia Standard – Friday 9 May 1890
Mrs. J. D. Stringham was buried at Portland on Saturday.  She was 87 years of 
age, the last 40 of which were spent in Portland, where she was beloved by 
many.  She was the mother of fourteen children, seven of whom are now living.  
They are Dr. D. H. Stringham of Carson City, Daniel H. of Portland; Mrs. Emma 
Champlain, Mrs. McCrosby, Mrs. Berry and Mrs. Maxom  of New York State; and 
Mrs. L. B. Whitcomb, of River Falls, Wis.  Funeral sermon by Rev. A. P. Moors 
of Ionia.
