When in good health Mr. Strong was a spiritual leader in his community, a faithful member of the Baptist church, and a man of unusually diversified culture. He was recognized as a wise, devoted servant of the Lord in the home, among his church associates, as a county officer, in which capacity he served as register of deeds, and supervisor. Mr. and Mrs. Strong have been married 57 years, and during that time have lived within one and one-half miles from the old rural home. Mrs. Strong was Miss Polly Ann Wilder. He leaves three children, Frank, of Easton; a daughter, Mrs. Cassia Robinson, of Detroit, and Dr. Bess Strong, prominent in Ionia professional and social circles. Two daughters, Mary and Myrtle, died a few years ago. Four sisters survive, Mrs. F. D. M. Davis, who recently moved to Detroit; Mrs. Frank Chase, of Smyrna; Mrs. Elva Hunter and Mrs. C. E. Trask, both of Flint. He leaves eight grandchildren, Emery F., Jr., Maurice, Norman, and Eldon, sons of Frank Strong; Mrs. Alva Watson, Margaret Stark, Miss Isabel Robertson, and Ruth Stark; two great grandchildren, Phyllys and Marian Isabel Stark.
