Jacky was born and lived many years in Indianapolis, IN, graduating from St. Mary Academy and the Indiana Business College. She was a woman of talent and compassion. She achieved expertise in several areas of specialized knowledge and visual and verbal artistic expression. She ably used her abilities of Health as well as for the enjoyment of many family and friends. She was also a friend to all animals. She started and ran a successful pet sitting business for several years until the effects of Lyme Disease forced her to discontinue. She suffered the pain and debilitating effects of Lyme Disease and Pancreatic Cancer with bravery and strength, remaining active and keeping her bright sense of humor and consideration of others to the very end. Jacky was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Zetta Maynard. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Steve Strong; her sister, Janice Maynard Annee (Carl) of Canton, GA; her "second family": sisters-in-law Judy Pung, Gloria Hensley and Agnes Krancich of Portland, MI; Barbara Struble of Anchorage, Alaska; Donna Paquin (Gary) of Dorr, MI; Nancy Strong (Tom Vemich) of Kalamazoo, MI; Mary Lyon (Jim) of Eagle, MI; and brother-in-law, Jim Strong of Lansing, MI; as well as many nieces and nephews and her four cats, Darby, Bailey, Simon and Autumn. After a life of selfless giving and patient suffering, she is deserving of peace and joy in the hereafter. A memorial mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at St. Patrick Church, Portland, MI with a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be given in her name to the Society for Improving Conditions for Stray Animals (SICSA), to lymedisease.org or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org).
