FORMER GROCERY MAN DIES SUDDENLY
Leaves Widow and Three Children, Funeral at Clarksville Tuesday.

Volney Strong, a familiar figure on our streets for several years and whose family
were very well and favorably known here, passed away at his home at Clarksville last Friday
morning.  Mr. Strong conducted a grocery in Lake Odessa during his residence here.

For several years his daughter served the people of the village in an official way,
assisting at the post office; thus the Strongs became will known in this village.

Obituary
Volney Strong was born in Fulton Co., Ohio, May 6, 1858 and died at his home in
Clarksville, Mich., Dec. 29, 1921, aged 63 years, 7 months and 23 days.

He was married to Miss Alice Carter of Delta, Ohio, March 28, 1879. To this union
were born five daughters, two having died in infancy. Those left to mourn his loss besides the
wife are Mrs. Lulu Graham of Lowell, Miss Nellie Strong of Ogden, Utah, and Mrs. Crystal
Mosey of Lansing, four brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Uriah Fuller of Detroit, Mich., Mrs.
I. A. Salisbury of Delta, Ohio, Mrs. A. P. Ross of Fayette, Ohio, Andrew Strong of
Metamors, Ohio, Herman Strong of Delta, Ohio, Amos Strong, Zurich, Montana and J. W. Strong of
Morecroft, Wyoming and many other relatives and friends.

He came to Michigan in March of 1891 and has made his home in Campbell and Lake 
Odessa except two years at Saranac. The funeral was held at the Methodist church at
Clarksville Tuesday afternoon. Burial at Clarksville cemetery.
