Obituary of Pauline Strong

Pauline Strong, daughter of Col. Sherman & Mary Robbins Strong, was born at Lake 
Odessa, Mich., February 16, 1907.

She attended common school at Lake Odessa, the Mill School, Clarksville, and in  
Kansas. She graduated from the Clarksville High School. She then attended 
Strayer's Business college in Philadelphia and later obtained her degree at 
Michigan State Teacher college at Mt.Pleasant.

Miss Strong taught school for about nine years at various places in Michigan, 
some of which were McBride, Hartland, Otter Lake, and Ida. She was teaching in 
the High School at Ida, Mich.,when las December she was taken with the 
affliction from which she passed away in Albany hospital, Albany, N.Y., October 
11, 1943.

Her life was spent in this vicinity at Lake Odessa, also partly with her parents 
in Kansas, Philadelphia, Panama Canal zone, Washington D.C. and finally at 
Schnectady and Albany N.Y.

During the periods she was residing with her parents, she worked for the 
Saturday Evening Post in Philadelphia, at welfare work in New York City and for 
the Federal Government in Panama.

She was always greatly attached to her native state and her friends and 
relatives here. As a result, she preferred to work and spend her life here.

She passed away October 11, 1943, after a lingering illness in Albany Hospital. 
Albany, N.Y. The last several months of her life were spent with her parents at 
Schnectady and at Albany, N.Y.

While attending school or teaching in Michigan for several years she made her 
home with Grandmother Strong to whom she was deeply devoted.

The funeral was held from the Beattie Funeral Home at Clarksville Thursday, Oct. 
14, 1943, with the Rev. J.I. Batdorff of Woodbury officiating. Interment was 
made in Clarksville Cemetery.
