Born at Henderson in Kent county, October 12, 1897, he was the son of Oscar and Jane Guilfoyle Stroup. He worked many years for the Packard Motor Company in Detroit and also worked at Lears in Grand Rapids several years before retiring. He had served with the Army in World War 1 in the ordinance department. The past 30 years he had made his home with a cousin, Mrs. Mary Jane Stacey in Ionia, and spent his winters in Florida for 18 years. He was a member and past trustee of the Ionia Elks lodge. His only survivors are cousins. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Leddick funeral home. Interment will be in the Oakfield cemetery, west of Greenville.
