Struble gathered Friday afternoon at his home, northeast of Muir, overlooking the beautiful new stretch of highway along M- 21, where the funeral services were conducted. Mr. Struble was one of the pioneers of the community, but few being left who knew him when he came to Muir from Portland, his birthplace. Those attending the services were of a younger generation, who knew him well, and admired him for the many admirable traits that made him a worthwhile citizen of the community. He was a lover of good horses, and during the past had owned many a well- matched team of large work horses. There were a great many of those attending the services who for years had seen him driving to church practically every Sunday morning, until age enfeebled him, with spirited horse, well-groomed and sleek, with its excellent care. He was a member of the Muir Church of Christ for 64years, and active in every division that needed his services. He lived with his son Harry, and the later years of his life were ones of happy companionship with his grandsons, L. B. Jr., and Jimmie, another comrade being admitted to the circle several years ago, when the little granddaughter Marilyn was born. He was 84 years of age. Rev. Alson Hendricks, of the Muir Church of Christ, and Rev. George L. Johnson of Paw Paw conducted the services, with Rev. Hendricks providing the solos. A wealth of flowers surrounded the casket which was born by neighbors, H. Felton Kendall, Bradley Dinehart, Herbert Dennis, Fred Cutler, John Woodmansee and George Confer, the first three of whom were born in the vicinity of Mr. Struble’s home and reared in the same community where Mr. Struble was rated high as neighbor and friend. The flowers were in charge of Miss Helen Kelley and Miss Luva Gardner. Burial was in the Muir cemetery.
