Ionia Sentinel Standard, 6 Apr 1983

Maurine Stuart, 84, of 6593 Bliss Road, Saranac, died at Ionia Manor Monday 
evening.  She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on Aug. 3, 1897, the daughter of 
Monta and Clara Kinne Payne.  She graduated from the University of Illinois in 
1922.  She taught school in Casey and Rockford, Illinois, and also at Western 
Michigan University in Kalamazoo.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Clarksville Valley Chapter 414 
and a member of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Ionia Shrine 41.

She married Carl J. Stuart on June 20, 1927 in Illinois.  He preceded her in 
death in July 1971.

She is survived by one daughter, Miss Marjorie Stuart of Saranac; one sister, 
Mrs. Rlph Sylvia Henson of Arizona, one niece and several nephews.  One sister 
preceded her in death.

Eastern Star Memorial Service will be Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m.  Funeral 
services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac, 
with Rev. Willis Braun officiating.  Burial will be in Saranac Cemetery.  The 
family will meet with friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Anyone 
wishing may make contributions to the University of Illinois Foundation.
