Stump, 66, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Portland, passed away May 24, 2006, in Lakeland, Fla. He was born Feb. 4, 1940, in Portland, the son of Bill and Dorothy (Werner) Stump. He worked for TRW in Portland for 30 years. He also was the construction coordinator for Habitat for Humanity in Lakeland for two years. He loved fishing and farming. Phillip served his country for six years in the National Guard. He is survived by his friend, Kathy Emswiler of Lakeland, Fla. He also is survived by three daughters, Kris Nicholson of Portland, Rhonda Stump of Texas, Melissa (Mark) Davis of California; two brothers, William (Cindy) Stump of Ionia and Patrick Stump of Colorado; four sisters, Mary Ellen Morgridge, of Charlevoix, Janice (Dick) Manning of Portland, Carleen (Doug) Kissane of Portland, Judge Barbara Stump of Grand Ledge; five grandsons, Jeremy Manning, Justin Manning, Michael Ward, Steve Ward, and Dylan Nicholson; one great-granddaughter, Jasmine Manning. A memorial service was held June 9 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home in Portland. Interment was in Portland Cemetery.
