Washington street, Monday morning at 8:30. Fifty-six years of age, he was born Jan. 1, 1893 in Montcalm county and attended Greenville high school. He was married to Ida Rich, Jan. 19, 1916 and they had lived most of the time in this city. He was a contractor and builder and during his active business, built 17 houses in this city and one in Greenville. He was a member of the First Baptist church, always active in its many branches of work, serving as Sunday school superintendent for eight years and member of the Men’s Brotherhood. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge, F.& A.M. No. 355 and of the Goodfellowship club. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Carroll Slayton and one grandson, Kenneth of this city, his father, A.K. Sturgeon of Greenville, two sisters, Mrs. Albert James of Putnam, Conn., and Mrs. Cecil McClellan of Greenville and one brother, Enoch of Columbus, Ga. Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 o’clock at Ellis Funeral Home, Rev. Gustave Ferre will officiate and burial will be in River Ridge cemetery. Rev. H. S. Ellis will officiate at the Masonic commitment service. Active pallbearers are Edgar Oberlin, John Leppink, Adair Simmons, Art James, Harry Trull and Jack Shepard. Honorary pallbearers, John McNaughton, Robert Palmer, Lyle Simmons, Leo Tower, Walter Lambertson and Elmer Harrington.
