The Belding News, Friday, January 8, 1904
Mrs. Warren Sturgis, wife of Officer Sturgis of the special police detail, 
passed away at the home, 852 South Ionia street, last night, after a somewhat 
extended and severe illness.  Mrs. Sturgis was stricken with pneumonia more 
than a week ago and at first grew worse very rapidly.  Saturday it was thought 
she would recover, but yesterday she suffered a relapse and the end followed.  
Mrs. Sturgis was very well known in Grand Rapids where she had lived for 
years.  There are no children.—Grand Rapids Evening Press Jan. 6.

Mrs. Sturgis whose maiden name was Miss Gertie McCabe, resided in Smyrna about 
a dozen years ago, and leaves many friends here who deeply regret her death.
