Sentinel-Standard - Monday, July 7, 1969

LAKE ODESSA- Martin J. Styger, 85, died early Monday morning at Pennock 
hospital in Hastings where he had been a patient for weeks. 

Born October 24, 1883 at Sattel, Switzerland, he was the son of Baltz and 
Katharina Horath Styger. When 18 he came to Illinois where he was employed as a 
farmer and continued farming when he came to Sunfield area in 1921.

Married to Mildred Nelson on June 27, 1931 he moved to Lake Odessa area 29 
years ago. They lived on a farm northwest of Lake Odessa five years before 
moving into the village. He was a retired farmer and Fisher Body employee. 

Surviving are his wife Mildred; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Max McWhorter of 
Sunfield; one stepson Oran C. Nelson of Fillmore, Calif. five step 
grandchildren; one brother Joseph of Pekin, Ill.

Funeral services will be on Thursday at 1:30 pm at Pickens funeral chapel in
Lake Odessa, Rev. Marvin Zimmerman will officiate and burial will be at 
Sunfield cemetery.
