Sullivan, 75, brother of Justice of the Peace John L. Sullivan of Ionia, died in Detroit Saturday while there on a visit at the home of his son, Paul. His death was unexpected from a heart attack. Mr. Sullivan was in Ionia about a week ago to attend the annual reunion of the Sullivan family, coming here with his son’s family with whom he returned to Detroit for a further visit. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock in St. Francis church in Grand Rapids. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery. Attending the services from Ionia were John L. Sullivan, his son, Ellwood and wife who are at present on vacation in the Ionia area. The death of Phillip Sullivan is the first break in the family of four sons and four daughters of Cornelius and Isadora Sullivan of Campbell township, whose family was reared on their home farm three miles south and one mile west of Clarksville. Phillip Sullivan left Ionia county more than 50 years ago and later in Grand Rapids followed the trade of machinist with the railroads and for many years with the Keeler Brass Co. Surviving him are his wife, Katherine, a son, Paul of Detroit; two daughters, Mrs. Willis Pease of Chicago and Mrs. Naomi Markel of Malvern, Iowa; one grandson; three brothers, John L. of Ionia, William G. Of Milwaukee, Wis., and Cornelius J. of Grand Rapids; four sisters, Mrs. Edith Murray of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Grace Velte of Saginaw, Mrs. Jesse Burman of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mrs. Lloyd Brayton of Columbus, Ohio.
