Mrs. Grace Reese, 23, sustained two badly crushed legs, severe cuts and body bruises, is still in the hospital,. Durwood Hitchcock, who was riding with them, had his right arm broken in two places. He was discharged from the hospital Monday. The accident occurred while the party of three were returning from Lansing. A big Cadillac car going toward Lansing blew a front tire, and veered across the pavement directly in the path of the Sulpizio machine, hurling it into the ditch a tangled mass of wreckage, containing the torn and bruised bodies of Mr. Sulpizio and Mrs. Reese. When the impact occurred Hitchcock was thrown clear of the machine, a distance of about 30 feet, his body striking a fence post, causing the fractured arm. For a number of hours following the qccident, it was feared that Mrs. Reese was fatally injured, but later reports coming from the hospital stated that X-ray pictures disclosed no bones were broken although both her legs were badly crushed. The Cadillac car that caused the accident is owned by Chester Culver, of Detroit, and was being driven by Douglas Tyler, of that city. Culver's daughter was also a passenger in that car. All three escaped with minor injuries. Mr. Sulpizio was a World War veteran, He was born in Portland and had spent his lift time here with the exception of the time spent over seas during the war. Besides the parents, Mr. And Mrs. A. Sulpizio, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Frank Metcalf and Mrs. Clara Cox, both of Lansing. Funeral services were held from St. Mary's church Wednesday morning, all stores and business places throughout the town being closed during the hours of the service. Dale E. Hyland post, American Legion, of which he was a member, together with members of the Legion Auxiliary, attended the funeral in a body, the former assisting in the burial services. The flowers which covered the casket were plentiful, speaking in a mute testimony of the love which his fellow townspeople and friends from away held for him.
