                               ELMER L. SUMNER

Elmer L.Sumner, 74, of route 3, Portland, died Sunday at St.Lawrence in Lansing 
after being a patient one week.

He was born May 5, 1897 at Bath and was a self employed carpenter.

Surviving are a son, Robert of Portland; six daughters, Mrs.Doris Vinocur of 
Marquette, Mrs.Lillian Peel of Traverse City, Mrs. Ruth Witgen of Fowler,Mrs 
Violet Morgan, Mrs.Betty Beech and Mrs.Alice Graft of Portland; 26 grand-
children; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry of Englewood,Fla., and 
Ward of Alma.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 at Neller Funeral Home in Portland. 
Interment will be in Portland Cemetery.

Bearers will be Michael, Daniel and Timothy Beech, William Sunmer, Max and Kevin 
Witgen.
