Among the survivors are daughter, Marian Rushford Coleman of Battle Creek. Myers funeral home in Ionia has charge of funeral arrangements which were incomplete pending notification of next of kin. --------------- Military funeral services were conducted by the American Legion post of Battle Creek Monday at 2 p.m. at Myers funeral home for James E. Surine, 76, of 138 West Goguac, Battle Creek. Rev. Robert Macomb officiated and interment was at Highland Park cemetery. Mr. Surine was born May 15, 1893 in Vermontville the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Surine. He died Friday at Battle Creek Sanitarium hospital. He was married November 23, 1922 in Battle Creek to Mary J. Rushford. After moving to Hastings he began work at the Thornapple Gas and Electric company at the age of 16 and later worked for Consumers Power company as an electrician. He was a World War I veteran belonging to American Legion post of Battle Creek. After the death of his wife in 1953 he made his home with a step-daughter, Mrs. Glenn Coleman. Surviving besides his step-daughter Mrs. Coleman are a sister Mrs. Woodrow Willis of Battle Creek; one step grand-daughter, one great grandson; and three great great grandchildren. --------------- Rev. Robert Macomb of First Presbyterian church officiated at funeral services Monday for James E. Surine who died Friday. Interment was at Highland Park cemetery. Bearers for the full military services were Charles Bower, Lee Laboch, Leonard Newton, Richard LaForge, Oscar Brady and Harris Greenman. Honor guards were Emil Vrshik, Boyd Fuller and Les Housman. Bearers and honor guards were from the Cpt. Oscar Brady post of Battle Creek.
