She was born May 10, 1904, in Montcalm County and shortly after marriage to Merle Sutherland moved to Lake Odessa where they have since resided. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and an officer at the time of her death. Surviving are the husband, Merle; two daughters, Mrs. Alma Kruger of North Manchester, Ind., and Zondra at home; four sons, Merle, Jr., of Charlotte, Milo, Leon and John at home; her father, William Schlapi of Sumner; four brothers, L.W. of Ithaca, Asa G. of Ionia, D.V. of Maple Rapids and Theodore of Auburn Heights; three sisters, Mrs. Nora Wolfgang of Saginaw, Mrs. Burdette Bupp of Sumner and Mrs. Byron Pierce of Ionia, and three grandchildren. Funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at the Pickens Chapel with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Rev. Vernon Macy of the Calvary U-B Church, officiated.
