Bruce “Ozzie” Sutherland, aged 74, of Ionia, passed away Feb. 9, 2010.

He was born June 24, 1935 in Portland, Mich. the son of Neil and Esther 
(Hyland) Sutherland. Bruce graduated from Portland High School in 1953. He 
later joined the Army serving during the Korean War. Ozzie married Nancy 
Burdick Aug. 17, 1957. Bruce sold cars for most of his life, working for many 
local dealerships. He was also an avid golfer, even making his own clubs.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy; children, Mark Sutherland of 
Ionia, Dawn Hostetler of Ionia, Amy (Mike) Bladzik of Ionia and Bruce (Robyn) 
Sutherland of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Leann Shattuck of Lowell, Nicole 
(Bryant) Claycomb of Ionia, Tyler Hostetler of Ionia and Mike Bladzik of Ionia; 
1 great-granddaughter Miss Phoebe Sue Shattuck and many nieces, nephews and 
cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a Memorial Service Friday, Feb. 12, 
2010 at 11 a.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Pastor Kevin Sutherland 
officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday 4-7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Those
