November 1, 1951 MRS. SUTHERLAND DIES UNEXPECTEDLY Mrs. Mary Magdalene Sutherland 59, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning at St. Mary's hospital, Grand Rapids, where she was admitted as a patient Sunday afternoon. The family has been residents of Woodbury for the last 17 years, moving there from the Grand Rapids area. She was a member of the St. Edwards Church and Altar Society. Surviving are her husband Clifton, three daughters, Miss Madeline Sutherland of Detroit, Mrs. Marjorie Mohrhardt of Sunfield, Mrs.Marilyn Dahms of Lansing, four sons, Maurice of Ionia, Neil of Portland, Robert of Lansing and Tom at home; three brothers, Emmanuel and Erwin Starr both of Lansing and Wilbur of Charlotte; three sisters, Mrs.Emma Root of Greenville, Mrs.Helen Gutzki of Lansing and Mrs.Gladys Rogers of Grand Rapids and seven grandchildren. Rosary was recited Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock at Pickens Chapel where prayer service was also held Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM. Funeral Services were held Wednesday at 10 o'clock at the St. Edward's Church with Father Donald Farrell officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery near Grand Ledge.
