Ionia Sentinel Standard, 1 Jun 1993

Ruth T. Sutherland, 84, of Ionia died May 28 at Ionia Manor.  Born April 4,
1909, in Sweden, she was the daughter of Carl and Esther Beckland.

Surviving are a son, Michael of Durand; a granddaughter, Susan Sailors of
Saline; and a sister, Ellen Castle of California.  She was preceded in death by
her husband Maurice in 1969, and by a sister, Violet Thwaites, and a brother,
Henry Beckland.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Myers Memorial
Chapel, Ionia, with the Rev. F. Michael Valentine officiating.  Burial will be
in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  A memorial for the American Heart Association has
been established, in care of the funeral home.
