Sutphen, 53, lifelong resident of Belding, will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Belding Methodist church. He died unexpectedly Sunday at United Memorial hospital in Greenville. Mr. Sutphen, who resided at 948 South Pleasant street, was traffic manager at Gibsons in Greenville 27 years. He was a member of Belding Methodist church, Belding lodge F&AM, Grand Rapids Transportation club, Gibson Management club, and past member of Belrockton board. He is survived by his wife, the former Agnes Donovan to whom he was married March 31, 1934 in Detroit; also three daughters, Ann at home, Mrs. Deirdre Circle of Lake Odessa and Susan, student at Central Michigan university; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Sutphen of Belding; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Cairns of Greenville and Mrs. Frances Hillman of Belding; two brothers, Jack of Belding and Richard of Greenville; and two grandchildren. Officiating will be the Rev. Wilford Wood of Kalamazoo, Rev. Ralph Dean of Belding and Belding lodge F&AM. Burial will be at River Ridge cemetery. Bearers will be Walter Blumberg of Trufant, Arthur Elzinga, Howard Wood, Perry Outman, Anthony Echter and Martin Shannon of Belding. The body will be at Huffman funeral home until Wednesday morning.
