L.A. Sutton, passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. I.W. Greene in the 
village, last Saturday aged 88 years.  He had been in poor health for some time 
and when Mrs. Greene went to call him for dinner Saturday he had fallen from 
his chair and death followed within a few moments.

Lorenzo A. Sutton was born in Pompey, Onondaga county, N.Y., Nov. 14, 1824, and 
died at Lyons, Mich., April 5, 1913.

He came with his parents to Michigan when but a small boy, and has been a 
resident of Ionia county for more than sixty years.  In 1844 he was married to 
Adelphia A. Farman, who died Nov. 16, 1892.  There were no children born to 
them, and his only known relatives are Mrs. Hattie Knapp and Jay Baker of 
Wichita, Kansas.

Mr. Sutton lived on his farm south-east of Lyons until the death of his wife, 
when he came to Lyons and started a photograph gallery, which he conducted for 
several years.  Mr. Sutton was a quiet unassuming man and was loved and 
respected by all who knew him.  He was a member of the M.E. church and had 
lived a good exemplary Christian life.  He was a thorough student of the Bible 
and loved to talk of its precious promises.  He was one of the pioneers in this 
county and in an early day was considered one of the most successful hunters in 
Ionia county.  He enlisted in the Berdan? Sharp Shooters in 1861 and was a 
loyal and brave soldier.  For several years he has been in feeble health and 
has been cared for by Irving Greene and wife of Lyons.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. Greene Monday conducted by Rev. 
Wm. Judd, an old time pastor and comrade.
