Delbert R. Swain, 84, of Ionia, died Thursday, June 23 at the Orchard Hills
Hospital in Belding.  He was born Jan. 26, 1904 in Gratiot County, the son of
William and Minnie (Woodard) Swain.  He worked for 35 years for Ypsilanti Reed,
Mitchell-Bentley, and A.O. Smith, retiring in 1969.

Surviving are his wife, Mae; two sons, Delbert M. Swain Jr. and Richard Swain,
both of Ionia; two daughters, Lolly Mason of Lyons and Jean Wolthuis of Ionia;
11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Vernice Verby of Palm
Springs, Calif.; one half brother, Bird Woodward of Ionia.  He was preceded in
death by two brothers.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday from the Myers Memorial Chapel,
Ionia, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  Burial will be in Easton
Cemetery.  The family will receive visitors Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 8:30
p.m. at the Main Street Chapel.  Memorial contributions may be used for the
wishes of the family.
