The Portland Observer, Thursday, November 21, 1912


The remains of Mrs. James Swain, of Lansing, were brought to Portland last 
Friday for burial on the family lot in the local cemetery.  Mrs. Swain was a 
sister of P. N. Chapel, of Portland, and was well known in this vicinity.  Her 
maiden name was Mary A. Chapel, and she was born in Eagle township 70 years 
ago, moving from the vicinity early in life.
