Carl E. Swainston, 67, of 832 Bridge St., Lyons, died at his home early Friday 
after a long illness.  He was born October 6, 1913, in Kingsley, Mich., the 
son of Lloyd and Lenora Swainston.  He attended Lyons Public Schools.  He was 
married to Helen Wilder in February 1938.

A Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Muir-Lyons Post 4646 of the 
Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Harold of Lyons and Gerald of 
Ventura, Calif.; and two grandchildren.  One brother and one son preceded him 
in death.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. from Hull Memorial Chapel in Muir, the Rev. 
Paul Carmichael of Lyons Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will be in Muir 
Cemetery.
