Swanberg, 98, of Ionia, died Thursday morning at the Belding Christian Nursing Home. she was born on November 6, 1894, the daughter of Eric and Johanna Dahlstrom in Jennings, Mich. She was graduated from Cadillac High School and Wexford County Normal. She also attended Augustana Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. She was married to Albin A. Swanberg on April 4, 1917, in Ionia, where she has lived since. Her husband was a barber in Ionia for 40 years and he preceded her in death in 1973. She taught school in Wexford County, served in several capacities as a nurse, was a Sunday school teacher for many years and at the time of her death was affiliated with Zion United Methodist Church in Ionia. She is survived by one daughter, Alice Rasmussen of Belding; two sons, Robert of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Edgar of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and three nieces. She was also preceded by five brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the Cook Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Dornbush officiating. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. The family will be at the Rich Street Chapel on Friday from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for Zion United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home. Pall bearers will be Jim Longwell, Stan Myers, John Rasmussen, Stewart Hills, Don Helmer and Jack Patten.
