The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, April 1, 1953


Services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Neller funeral home in Portland 
for Emory B. Swank, 80, who died at his home on Divine highway, Portland.  The 
Rev. Fr. Flohe officiated, and interment was in Portland cemetery.

Swank had lived in the Portland vicinity for 54 years, and for 33 years of that 
time was employed at the Valley City Milling company.

He leaves his wife, Mae; a daughter, Mrs. Andrew J. Truett, of Holland; a son, 
Otto J., of Baldwin Park, Calif.; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 
and a brother, Creighton, of Cedar Springs.
