The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, October 12, 1985

Margaret T. Swanson, 74, of 348 E. Fargo St., Ionia, died October 11 at St. 
Mary’s Hospital, Grand Rapids.  She was the daughter of Mike and Pauline 
Ciganick and was born at Mala Udica, Czechoslovakia, July 9, 1911.  She came 
to the Ionia area in 1920 and was married to Fred Swanson July 19, 1935 in 
Plano, Ill.  They spent a majority of their married life in Aurora, Ill., 
returning to the Ionia area in 1968.  She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul 
Catholic Church and St. Catherine’s Guild of the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.  
Surviving are her husband, Fred; one daughter, Mary Ann Cory, of Ionia; two 
grandsons, one sister, Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Hughes of Owosso; one brother, Henry 
Ciganick of Jenison; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from SS. Peter and Paul Church Monday at 10 
a.m.  Burial will be in Balcom cemetery.  Scripture rosary service will be 
held Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Montgomery-Roetman Funeral Home.  The family will 
be at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. 
and 7 to 9 p.m.  Memorials have been established for SS. Peter and Paul Church 
and Ionia County Commission on Aging, in care of the funeral home.
