Lake Odessa Wave, 3 Aug 1933

Thomas Swarthout was born September 30, 1854, in Lenawee county and died July 
25, 1933, at his home in Lake Odessa at the age of 79 years.  He was married to 
Miss Laura Nye in January 1899.  One daughter Grethel was born to this union.

He came to Odessa township at the age of twelve years and has been a loyal 
citizen and a splendid neighbor all through the years.  He was a quiet, 
faithful friend, devoted to his family and his farm home which is just west of 
the village.  

He leaves his widow, one daughter Mrs. Clifford Walter, and four grandchildren.

The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon, Rev. George J. Start 
officiating.  Burial was at Lakeside cemetery.
